Haven’t started mine yet Neil. Will do this week if we get a decent early morning. Not looking good though.

Have you ever had a bad toss at this distance Neil? Over the years I've heard of some right disasters at these short tosses. Recall a local fancier once have 12/70 from just 3 miles!

Hi King
What I do is let out about 6am
Feed in with 7 gram per bird of a mix of barley and seed . Then go to work and train after work so I get the fly out of them plus there hungry so not really had a bad toss there
Each time I have arrived home with them in
Normally I only go there once maybe twice but this year I went 3 times not for any reason just to keep them training as the weather has been so poor here I just got one in between showers yesterday
Tonight they will go about 8/9 miles for 3 days then to 15 for 3 days
After that I go 20 miles 3 times then 25 miles north east and 25 miles north west both about 3 times
After that as many as I can at 20 miles ( my break point and 3-4 nights a week for the 5 or 6 weeks I race at 20 miles

I always used to start mine straight at around 20miles and never had a problem, I would then train almost right up to our first race point. I think if you are starting them quite young it pays to start a bit shorter,.
I gave mine their first toss a week ago from 10miles, they took 1.5hrs, I had two missing on the day, one of those turned up on the Thursday absolutely knackered. The other hasn't shown up but to be honest it's one that I should have moved on as a squeaker, I always felt it would go down as soon as I did anything with it.
I was hoping to have go another couple in by now by the weather hasn't allowed, I will do a couple more from 10miles and then move on to around 20miles, I'll try and get half a dozen from there before the first race. I might continue once a week for the first couple of weeks but will then stop.
One of our members took his about 4miles three times on Sunday

he starts short from all directions before moving out further North, he does train hard but also gets results!!
