Over many years, we have seen so many winners all over the world. Coming from this family of birds, and yes i mean worldwide.

Nice little post, Devo.
No doubt about it, the Jannsen pigeons have had a greater influence on the modern sport than any other strain. Any successful family of pigeons, look back and the Jannsens show up. Legends like De Klak kept only Jannsens.
And here in Oz, the strain has been and still is an important part of the sport.

Had my one and only Lerwick triumph with a Jansen cock when i was a kid. Only bird on the day after a 1 week hold-over. I let him down by sending him again too soon after and doubt I’ll ever forgive myself for that in a way - tough lesson learned but what a superb pigeon he was to my young eyes.

That is a real choker Peter, but sadly a mistake we have all made, and for many of us, if we are honest, continue to make. We can easily go a little blind to the little signs in a our desperation to get some birds to repeat performances like that.

I agree too Muzza, I often have this debate with fellow club mates. You can go into most lofts, whatever strain they keep, and pick out that pigeon with distinctive Janseen head and shoulders, Superb pigeons.

Yes Trev. That "Roman nose" profile of the Janssen pigeons. And, as you say, the shoulders, for want of a better term.
My Billion Dollar Baby laid today. She paired up with the Grizzle Thone'. He has a perfect Janssen head and build. I doubt Jos Thones pigeons reached the height they have without a healthy dose of Janssen.
