Ears on barley

I purchased some malting barley as normal from the farm at £6 but it always has a few grains with ears on it , it’s better than beyers at £19 or vl when I have germinated in time and percentage
The birds eat it ok but I was thinking could the ears damage the throat causing fungus or canker etc
I use to use it to weaken my mix in the season and flew well on it

Views would be welcome

If you offered me with or without ears I'd take it without

So, there's a "risk" but I guess its a calculated risk

I don’t think it makes any difference. Last year the farm I buy my barley from had a problem when harvesting, all the grains had tails on, pigeons eat it had no health issues.

Do you think the Mrs will help ? She should get the 3 sacks done before the ETS updates start again and you know how she loves helping the club with that :D
