The Letter came from North East Region dated 01.10.24 – NE Region letter dated 23.01.24 –
Requesting de-recognition of the NWHU

The RPRA left it on the table. They should have just put it in the bin.

Is that regarding some money

Don’t know their thinking, it’s to be discussed at the February meeting, if it happens the ramifications are obvious.

Hi Bowbroom, hope you've had a great Christmas - maybe its just me but the consequences are not that obvious, can you give me some rationale on the "fors and against" of such a move?

If the NWHU becomes unrecognised then RPRA members will no longer be able to be a NWHU member also.
Birds carrying a NWHU ring will be unable to compete in races or shows held under RPRA rules.
As one of those that worked to get the NWHU recognised, I hope it doesn’t happen.

I was a dual member of the RPRA & NWHU for many years. I'm now just a member of the NWHU.
The RPRA has been against the NWHU from day one. Many of the old fossils in the RPRA still have a axe to grind. In the event of a ban RPRA members would STILL be able to race any birds they have at present. After all they have ALREADY paid the RPRA to do so though the ring Tax. Any likely ban on NWHU would be for future 'new' rings say from 2026.
As for myself who breeds birds for others to race, I'll just switch to using either SU or NEHU rings so others can still race them.

If the NWHU becomes unrecognised then RPRA rules 88 to 92 would apply from the time of derecognition in my opinion there would be no period of grace unless the wording of those rules were amended by a properly submitted proposition and as the letter is to apparently be discussed at the meeting following the AGM in February that is highly unlikely.
People that this would affect must consider their position and act accordingly, as I say I hope it doesn’t happen but it would be foolish to ignore the possibility

surely the Rpra can't make a decision following a 'discussion'. Such a decision would also have to come from a rule change which cannot now come about until the 2026 Agm.

The list of approved unions is not part of the rules it’s an appendix which doesn’t require a rule change, If it were Council have the authority using rule 142 to do pretty much what they like as in the case of tripling the subs
