Hi all

I’ve got a hen bird been struggling for a few weeks now. Hunched up, bit of weight loss but nothing in the mouth or throat, droppings look ok. I tried Gamba tabs and Tollisan Matrix in her water for 5 days, which seemed to be perking her up, but now she’s gone downhill again, getting occasional tremors and one of the eyes looks a bit ‘off’. She’s eating, had a bath a day or so back, but not recovering.

Looking at all the videos available Chlamydia looks like the most likely, but the water treatment clearly hasn’t done its job. Any ideas?

I’m not sure it is chlamydia Pete so maybe get a test but that’s not a £15 job
I think doxycycline is prescribed for it if it is
I had a pigeon reported two years ago 40 miles away a good one flown out I picked it up in awful condition from a non fancier I thought it would be dead by the time I got home or next morning at best
it couldn’t stand dropping like green water
I used amoxicillin and in 3 days it was standing and eating

Very good clinic i must say, they gave me help after i brought my speed champion hen home. She was from the Costa Del Sol OLR 2018. When i got her home she was not right at all, i phoned them for advice.
I think the vet was Libbey, she took details and sent me details to send the hen there. After a wek she came home again. I felt still not right, so over time i worked with her and got her right.
Research, Patience and Observation are all needed.

Not sure if you remember but I had a cock with wet dropping it happened after a peregrine attack may time
Any way it went on for months so wasn’t nerves or stress then it got to the moult this year and still wet no matter what I tried
I tried various things
In the end I got two test kits of them stuffed his dropping in one and 3 random cocks in the other
They came back with low cocci in the 3 test tube not need to treat but moderate in the cocks dropping so I used baycox within an under a week he was back to marble droppings. Which has given me confidence in the company as to be honest since David Coward Talbot left I had only had good test results so I was thinking if they were bang on with there testing
I am am getting 6 basics test kits worms / cocci / fungus / canker off them for £72 on offer at the moment for the old birds to test every 3-4 weeks so the basics are covered
Just respo that will blind treat monthly really

I had one Devo but I must admit never applied myself to it and couldn’t be arsed in the end
I look at it that £72 is not even £1.50 a week over the year and that way looks cheap plus it’s checked better than I could do
I do know that when people say they can see worms there not correct always or if they think they haven’t got canker just because there isn’t a great lump of yellow in the throat there wrong but people still think like that
