Just come back on again & 43 online, of which 3 are registered members , & 40 guests. Any feedback as to how you can grow the forum, just seems odd that they don't want to be a member but will look in.
Can they not post at all?, but just look in on other members post's .
Regards Dave.

Some guys Dave are happy to read what's going on and don't want to get involved themselves
Each to his/her own I guess

It's now 64, 5 registered and 59 guests. I myself often look in without signing in, I wonder how many other members are among the 59 guests. Maybe it would help if guests only got a restricted view of the forum.

I often have a quick look at the forum without signing in, it's only if I'm going to be on for a while and possibly posting that i sign in.

1 on now and that is me and no guests, as Mike says some just browse and some look without signing in, Albert it can be changed so you can only view if you sign in (same as chat) used to be but personally I think if folks are looking in then there is always a chance they will sign in at some point so prefer the way it is, but if enough people want it changing then I will look at doing it

I have to say that I quite often look in without signing on these days, partly as I don't have the time, so just look in to see what's new, and partly because I can't be bothered to get involved with some of the debates.

You could trial Albert’s idea Buster just to see if over two months the membership goes up more than it normally would
I think once people join they may decide to go to the next step and post
Either way I can see the thinking behind the current set up and Albert’s idea

It used to be closed Neil but seemed better when open as it is now, myself I see no harm in folks looking in, back to other sites I used to look at things but never signed in as very rarely posted as not having much to offer to the topics, same can be said for this site I know folks will post but sometimes for whatever reason they just browse, think we will leave it open

Likely these could be the members that were "culled" a few months back for 'not contributing'. Maybe these ppl just liked looking in rather than contributing.
I thought it was quite harsh at the time and couldn't understand why they should be any burden to the site/mods but I don't know enough about how the site works to be able to justify that sort of involvement one way or another.
