I’ve gone through all the youngsters today and had them in the basket briefly. I wanted to go through them to see which 2 had gone missing off the loft during the last couple of weeks. The 2 I’m missing is a first round youngster from Pete’s Muzzabella, which was one of the eldest and one of the youngsters from Trev. So I still have the 2 from Pete, all 6 of Busters and 3 of the 4 from Trev. I also have 24 that I have bred. There are some lovely youngsters there. I still need to sort out the 4 for Murray. I know who they are just need to check the ring numbers. I had thought I might start training them this week but may wait until it cools down a bit. Although I go early when it’s not to hot if they have any problems they are out in the hottest weather.
On another note. As I said a few days ago, 10 days to be exact, I had a stray youngster come in from John & Dave Staddon. This youngster has been coming in and out, with mine every day. It was there this morning but after exercising tonight it was not. I spoke to Dave and sure enough it dropped onto their loft and trapped quickly. As they are only about 7 miles from me it could be that mine were ranging over their way. Funny things these here pigeons

Will be good to see how they go mate, strange how that one decided to go back after that length of time on free fly as you say funny things are pigeons

If it is heading for high 30's this week, I would agree. Leave the youngsters until the heat passes.
All they need is a hawk to give them a bit of a chase, and they are in a tree, miles from home, lost and dehydrated.

Well done Andy, pleased to see the team is doing well, its a shame you've dropped one of mine, I have to admit that I did fancy that pair of youngsters.
It shows that these birds never really forget where they came from !!! I had a baby in many years ago that was still squeaking and still had down on it, it had journeyed some 150miles from Norfolk to Lancing. As a new young fancier just starting out on my own to my delight the baby belonged to a Mr Jim Biss (who some of you may have heard of but you will definitely find him on google) he kindly agreed to transfer me the bird and sent through allsorts of information on the bird, what a fantastic opportunity for me. Sadly this joy didn't last more than around 3 months when the baby who had been flying out daily suddenly disappeared ☹ the next day I had a phone call from Mr Biss to inform me that the bird had gone home Just shows the quality of some of these pigeons that as soon as feel physically and more importantly mentally ready they will often just get up and head for home.
