You can tell it’s nearly the start of the youngbird season and people are training their youngsters. I have had 5 stray youngsters in this week. Only one has a contact number and they don’t answer.

True. The racing is starting to get into swing in Victoria, and the strays are starting to arrive.
The local blokes have had a couple of races, the results have been a bit disappointing. Heavy losses and slow returns.
They are having a meeting to discuss how to fix it tonight.

I didn’t have many old birds this year unlike other years but am getting a few in now. All youngsters. I had the youngster from John & Dave Staddon return to me a couple of days ago. Not going to be much good for either of us if he keeps going from one loft to the other.

Yes Buster it is. I’ll take it on my next trainer, probably tomorrow, and see how it does.

The stray from John & Dave Staddon went back to them yesterday after being here for a few days again.

Had the first stray in for the year last night.
I let it into the sputnik, then grabbed it and put it in a box with a feed. I let it out this morning and off it went.
Then I cleaned the box and used half a can of Glen 20 to kill any bugs or viruses it might have had. Then I cleaned the sputnik with Dettol and used the other half a can of Glen 20 on it.
The pigeon looked fine, but some blokes are vaccinating against Rota virus. It's like Covid vaccine, it masks the symptoms to a degree, so they can look OK, but still be infected. It doesn't stop them catching it.
Anyway I gave it a feed and a safe place for the night, it went on it's way and I hope it got home.
I also hope it didn't leave a parting gift.... :(

Never be to careful regarding strays, as you say hope it didn't leave a thank you, I grab them outside if I can if not the second they go in corridor before they have a chance to do anything then either in a basket or box in another shed, then away or collected when ready
