I’m not particularly a royalist but you can’t help but to be moved over the respect and feelings for our late queen. I have been watching some of the coverage of events over the past few days as we are all in mourning. Yesterday the coffin of queen Elizabeth was flown into RAF Northolt where the coffin was then taken to Buckingham Palace where she stayed until this afternoon. Today she was taken from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall where she will lay in state until her funeral on Monday. There is so much pageant and ceremony over the whole proceedings which is being done impeccably. Where else in the world would you have the coffin paraded through the streets with the close royal family members walking behind. There were thousands of people lining the streets and there is a 3 mile queue of people waiting to file past the coffin as it lays in state. This will continue day and night until Monday morning.
I did see my old boss, Lord Edward now the Duke of Norfolk, leading the royals out of Westminster Hall after the laying in state.
I will be watching the final laying to rest of Queen Elizabeth 2 on Monday.

Nice post, Andy.
Unlike you, I am a Monarchist.
The Westminster system of government, with the King as the head of state, is the most stable form of government.
There are people calling for the abolition of the monarchy, and the institution of a republic in Australia. They are of course, idiots.
In your case, did you really want President Boris Johnson signing "executive orders"?
Or worse, President Keir Starmer?.

I’m certainly not against the Royals Murray and would hate to see the institution go. I think they do an awful lot for the country. They cost a lot of money for the state but I think the revenue they bring in particularly from tourists probably out weighs that. I have met prince Charles, now King Charles, at the royal Cornwall show one year. Also went to the wedding and reception of Lord Edward, now the duke of Norfolk, where princess Diana was there.
No I certainly wouldn’t want us to have a president whoever they were.

Considering this situation hasn't arisen in 70 years it is remarkable just how well it has all gone so far. All the members of the Royal family have been humble, dignified and professional, I can't begin to imagine just how hard this week must have been for all of them, when do they get to grieve, don't forget they buried their Father/ Grandfather only a year ago. I think King Charles will do his Mum and Dad proud, I am definitely a Royalist and will always give them my support and backing, there are richer people than them in this world that just suck the life out of the rest of us, at least the Royal family give something back. In all honesty who would really choose their lives !!! I know I wouldn't. I personally haven't watched much of the proceedings but will be watching the Funeral on Monday, she really was a remarkable lady, sadly we won't see her like again 😥
Events like this do bring out the best in human nature and it is great to see so many people coming together to show their respects, unfortunately it also brings out the worst 😡 All these people using this as a platform to have a go at the Royals are completely out of order, everyone is entitled to their opinions but there is a time and a place and this is neither.

Queues this evening are now over 5 miles. The queue was closed for a period. Now reopened with a wait of 20 hours to get in. The king, princess Anne, princes Edward and Andrew took a turn of holding vigil of the coffin.

Which shows the love and respect held for Her Majesty.
The 'progressive' left both here and in the UK think that the Monarchy is finished. Nothing could be further from the truth. Charles is making a terrific start to his reign, and William and Kate are superb heirs to the throne.
the Labor government in Australia have firmly put the question of a republic at the bottom of the list. They know that if it went to the vote again, it would be thrown out again.
