I had thought that I would leave the birds together until the new year so that I could let them all out together whenever the weather was right. But now with the news that all birds must be shut in until further notice I think I will split them this coming weekend. It will mean that I won’t have to worry about throwing eggs away .

I very rarely get that problem during the winter months. The hens are in the youngbird loft whilst the cocks are in with the nest boxes with the fronts off.

Thought it was around the vent area that was clipped George not the tail itself or is that so he can get closer to the hen without the tail pushing him back

it is the tail Steve they say be careful round the vent not to cut it away
