Christmas 2023

We had an email yesterday from one of our suppliers. We have been told that to guarantee getting the stock we require for next Christmas our order has to be in by this Friday, 6th January. It won’t be delivered until after September and doesn’t have to be paid for until delivered but it’s still ridiculous having to order stock this far in advance. I suppose it shows how things have changed. Suppliers don’t want to over order and manufacturers only want to make enough to cover orders.

Yes I think it is Buster. The manufacturer is a well known brand. It wasn’t quite this early last year though.

Even if you don't order now they will still not refuse to sell anything later in year to anyone

Yes that’s right Buster. But we usually do leave it until a lot nearer to Christmas and have what they still have left in stock. But a lot of lines have sold out by then. We can sometimes get this left stock cheaply as they don’t want to be left with it. We will probably do an order for some of it and just top up later on if needed. We don’t generally buy in a lot of Christmas stock though anyway.

Ridiculous. This Christmas is hardly over.
I like your plan, order a bit now, and pick up some bargains closer to next Christmas.

That does sound a bit bonkers 🤯 I can't believe just how much left over stock the supermarkets have shifted in the past fortnight !!! They barely have anything left, they say people are skint 🤔🤔 Easter eggs are on the shelves now too 😬😂

We put an order together Friday, so have some guaranteed. I expect other companies will want orders in by June.
