I haven’t had the birds out for around 3 months now since splitting them up. Partly because of the restrictions around bird flu but also because I know a lot of the hens that are in the young bird loft would try to get back into the old bird loft and a lot of the yearling cocks would want to go back into the young bird loft. So I’ll be glad to pair up in a couple of weeks and start letting them out again.

Most of my pairs are now down on eggs, its earlier than planned but I will let some of these hatch. I did wean my first 3 babies this weekend which were out of the stock birds I obtained from our friend the late Des Coulter, I have two more that I'll wean during the week and 3 out of the 4 of these pairs are back down on their second round.

Well done Andy, I think I'd cut that one just below the bird feeder
I spent the day cutting the hedge between us and our neighbours, its actually their hedge but Dave has just had an operation on his back so as they are such good neighbours and friends that I'd get it done for him before the wild birds start nesting.
We have crocuses and snow drops out as well with daffodils and narcissi not far behind, next week I'll try and get the borders tidied up and weeded.

That bush is actually a bit further down the garden but it does need a trim.
