This morning I had a 2 year old cock turn up. I lost him from Littlehampton on the 28th April some 9 weeks ago. He is a little thin but otherwise ok. He is well enough to have been fighting for his old box when arriving. Where he has been all this time is anyone’s guess.

Does make you wonder, sometimes they get dragged that far they eventually get lost and work back slowly surviving on what they can until they reach home, the longest I have ever had one return from is 3 weeks late and thin as a rake

The longest I ever had was back in the 80s. Ilost a young bird off the loft in 1985. She returned 4 years later in the spring of 1989. By the look of her she had probably been a streetcar over that time. Once settled back in I did try racing her but she was useless.

As much as we do need to lose a few pigeons so that we can keep producing youngsters year after year it is always nice to see birds turn up after they've been out a while. I've had a few turn up after a year or so away but I can't remember having any turn up having been away much longer !!! I did have one trun up a few weeks ago that I lost as a youngster last August !!! He was so flown out that he has only just started to venture out of the loft again. I know he will never be any good now but having put so much into getting home how can I condemn him πŸ€”πŸ˜¬πŸ˜”
