Our fourth race was from Rugby 108 miles to me.
I sent 33 birds, 31 from last week plus 2 late returnees from our second race. We were hoping for an early liberation so the birds could be well on their way before the winds got up. Alas this wasn't to be as the birds weren't liberated until 10am by which time it was blowing nicely, I was still hopeful that they could be doing 40mph as long as they didn't get dragged too far east !! I got my first bird just on 3hr mark doing around 36mph 1058ypm they did drop in quite nicely after that with me having 14/33 in 20minutes and 22/33 within the hour, at close of play I had 29/33 home with another arriving next day leaving me 3 adrift.
Our Club was won by Dave Maxey doing 1236ypm, the fed winner was in our most easterly club (Eastbourne) with M&J Stewart taking the first 6, his winner doing 1426ypm.

This is our club result.

This is how my first 25 birds arrived.
We only print the first 6 of each members birds so the results can be misleading.

I don't know why it printed the club result twice but it wouldn't let me remove it without removing both of them 🤔🤔

My youngsters are moulting steadily. Nothing to bad to not race yet. They have about 4 flights to go. My old birds are falling apart now though.

Thanks Les 👍 a westerly wind again this weekend, I'd like to see them dropping in like that again tomorrow 🤞🙏 Wetherby is my goal so they just need to hold it for a couple more weeks 😁
Moult wise they are all quite different, some of my later ones are already up on their last couple of flights (our Dad would have stopped them by now !!) the older ones are only on their 4th or 5th flights. Some are looking sparce around the neck and head while others still have a good covering. There is certainly nothing that will stop me sending them at the moment, especially to these short flights, I will be a little more selective for Wetherby.
