First trainer yesterday

Late breds went to Hickstead 14 miles yesterday for their first toss. They took a hour exactly, which is the norm year after year. Lost a mealy, which i knew would go awol, as the bird would never fly with main batch. I was also down a blue hen, who arrived at 6.30pm from a 11.45 toss. Poor thing had broken a leg and a badly damaged keel. Not a great start

Thatโ€™s a shame about the injured one. Hopefully it will recover. Well done on the others Les.

Well done Les ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ how many youngsters did you send and how many have you bred ?? A shame you lost one and that you had one return injured, sounds like the little thing did well to get home, I hope it makes a full recovery mate.
How many trainers are you hoping to get in Les and are you hoping to get them into our last race ???

Shame Les hope it recovers well and the mealy turns up, I used to have two brothers never flew with batch but would fly for hours and hours popping back now and then and off again, after I lost one racing the other continued to fly the same and up until couple months ago was still here

That's interesting Buster. The brother of the missing bird is nearly always first out for a fly.

I bred five and bought in thirteen. Two went awol and three were dispatched by me. I shall get in another 7/8 trainers before Bovingdon 61 miles on the 16th September. I wont have a clock set, just a training race for them.

Les my opinion is if there going then get a clock and give them the credit for what they achieve, I know your circumstances from previous comments and know it will stand them in good stead for next year

I do agree with you Buster. I know itโ€™s difficult for Les but I agree the birds need the recognition they deserve. Nether the less weโ€™ll accept your decision and hope all goes well.
