Hi Trev, just letting you know the longest race as been replaced by Ilkeston, due to hot temperatures for Sunday. Basketing is still Saturday and the transporter will be arriving a hour earlier than usual. Good luck.

Thought the weather was breaking the weekend and cooling down a bit

Hmmmm so I hear Les, to be honest I'm pretty pee'd off to tell you the truth 😡🤬🤬 I'd been looking forward to this race all season and was excited about having a good team of yearlings next season that had flown over 200miles. Sadly it's the sprint men calling the shots again, them and those with birds in the breeder buyer 🤬 I don't know why we bother voting on a race programme, we might just as well make it up as we go 😕😬 At the beginning of the season we had 5 decent distance races to aim for, 4 old bird and 1 young bird, we ended up getting 2 of them 😡😔🤬🤬
I will be seriously reconsidering going over the water again next year with the classic clubs, I think that's the only way we will ever be guaranteed distance races and I'm just not interested in sprint racing.
Anyway I'm not shooting the messenger mate 😉 thanks for the post. 👍😊
We had a vote in our club, we had 8 members who were planning on sending, they voted 5 against 3 for changing to Ilkston. We had 5 members who weren't going send this week, funnily enough one of those is now considering sending !!

I'm afraid the weather was just an excuse mate, it's all about averages and money 😡🤬🤬 The sprint men calling the shots again 🤬

I was really looking forward to this one, I'd been working towards it and thought the birds were going to be just about right for it, now we are 60miles shorter at just 150miles they will be lucky to get near these sprint men 😔😡

150 miles should still be far enough to get them split Trev, although a shame to miss out after all the work you put in getting them ready for it, good luck with it

🤞🤞
Of course I would still be chuffed to get a result, it just won't have the gloss on it that the 216mile race would have.

You’re lucky to get that far Trev. We have our longest and final young bird race next weekend. Brighton. 102 miles for me. I know I’m one of the shortest members in the combine and the furthest will be doing 150 miles but still not very far. Having said that mine would have had 9 races and some have been difficult races. I’ve never really been interested in young bird racing it’s just a bit of experience for them so distance doesn’t matter. I have on more occasions than I choose to remember where good youngsters have fallen early in the season the following year. Results in young bird races mean very little to how good they’re be as old birds so I wouldn’t worry too much Trev.

I know what you mean Andy and I have never set much store on what my youngsters have done as I've also lost plenty that have won as youngsters and on the other hand have won with old birds that were useless as youngsters. Having said that I have always had a decent record in the longest young bird race and have always enjoyed racing it just as I have the longest old bird race. The point is though that I'm getting a bit pissxx off that the distance fanciers are continually over looked these days, our race programme had 13 old bird races and 8 young bird races with only 5 of them over 200 miles !! Out of those 5 we ended up racing only 2 of them 😡 if the sprint men don't want to race them then don't send, but don't stop those that want to race them from being able too 🤬 we voted on a race programme back in the closed season so stick to it !!!

It's still been a good season for both of you, Trev and Andy. The young birds have had plenty of racing and have learned their trade. It might have been good to have got some more distance in them but you both have teams set up for racing as yearlings.
Well done both of you. :D
