Buster's birds

I see Buster has put a footnote on his profile that he is thinking this might be the last year with the birds.
Obviously that is is his call to make, and no doubt he has good reasons, but it is a shame. When I was faced with the same decision lately I found I was not ready to get rid of the birds just yet.
I hope you will enjoy your pigeons for a while yet, Steve.

Not a decision taken lightly Murray but the way things are at present with health and other issues think the time has come to make that hard decision believe me it is not what I wanted but had to have some blood tests last week and other things have shown up that are not very good for me

I’ll be having half a dozen youngsters from him again this year so will at least give him some interest still. A difficult decision but I’m sure he’ll do what’s right for him and Angie.

Very sorry to hear that, and you must do what is right for you, Buster.

Sorry to hear that mate 😔 a horrible decision for you to have to make, but as you and others have said you have to do what sits right for you, ange and the family 🤗
I have to say I absolutely hated the 10 years that I was without my birds but they went for other reasons not due to health, so I honestly can't say what I would do in your situation mate. I'm looking forward to having half a dozen babies from you this year too 👍😁 Hopefully I'll be able to give them a proper go this time 🤞🙏
Keep us up to date with how things are mate, all the best.

It will be a sad day for you Buster, and i truly know that feeling. I found it so hard because it was happening over a few weeks, birds getting picked up on different days. Then the last day when the final birds got picked up, i was left with 2 empty lofts. They went the following week, and i was then walking into an empty back garden. I still miss them today and always will do.

I'm missing them already and mine still here, it will be hard very hard indeed, I have thought about if I can get them right down in numbers that may help and still keep one loft and 20 or less birds in it

It is horrible, I feel for you mate, not an easy decision to make.
Can you not join a club again and just race old birds for a couple of seasons to try and reduce numbers ?? Or is there a fancier near you who would take some from you to help reduce the numbers ??
I seriously need to reduce mine over the next season or two !!
I'm sure you will make the right decision for you in the end mate.
