We never know the reason behind the loss. If they return, then they deserve another chance.
Living in Brighton & Sunny Sussex.
She will certainly be given a chance next season. As said there is no telling where she’s been or what she’s been through. That was her first race and a race that was a disaster for me. I had sent 35 and only had 5 on the day. I have now had 24 of them back from that race. Some have since gone in other races but some have done ok since.DarkPiedCock wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2023 5:07 pm We never know the reason behind the loss. Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.
It's always nice to see them turn up after such a long time away, hopefully she will winter well and earn her perch next season Andy.
I had that pigeon turn up a few weeks ago that had been missing since last August, sadly he still isn't flying properly so I've got no idea what to do with him !! I know what I should do but after spending so long trying to get home that I just can't bring myself to.

Let him rest out a while and see what happens later on as you say he has spent a lot of time getting home and deserves a breakTrev wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2023 10:04 pm It's always nice to see them turn up after such a long time away, hopefully she will winter well and earn her perch next season Andy.

Sadies Lofts home of decent birds just a useless loft manager, and now a confirmed loser but proud

I have a hen here who went missing off the loft as a youngster and was reported 30 miles away having been hawked. I picked her up and she did have a couple of races. She was hawked again but this time she was missing for a couple of days before turning up hardly able to fly. She took a while before she started to get up into a perch. She did eventually manage to start flying again and does go out every day but one of her wings always hangs low. So hasn’t been raced again. She’s been used to keep a cock happy and as a feeder. Next year I will use her as a widowhood hen.

I know space is limited but some birds just deserve to keep their perch.Andy wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 8:02 am I have a hen here who went missing off the loft as a youngster and was reported 30 miles away having been hawked.
