You say he returned early next morning after a hot race ,Andy wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 7:01 pm Unfortunately this pigeon died yesterday. This was 2 weeks since his last race. Although initially I thought he may have picked up something from the baskets from the last race I don’t think he did. It was a couple of days after the last race that he started to look not right. I think if it had been sickness or disease he would either have recovered or died much sooner. My feeling is that he had some sort of organ failure. It wasn’t respiratory as his breathing was fine and his throat clear. Such a shame as I did like him.
Your pigeon had asosodosis pal it's caused through extreme exercise in heat once this happens to a horse ,dog ,pigeon there never any good afterwards, bi carb soda ,epsom salts brilliant for this but we have give dogs 3 blood transfusions took there blood again n blood count is good but they still under perform,,
Imagine nice thin blood it moves around the body easy ,Imagine blood as thick as sludge that's what there blood is like after asosdosis , normally high protein food ,not 100 percent fit and hot weather combine these 3 things together and this happens,
The pigeon is dead now but in future u see this epsom salts n bi carb in water and also in Bath water hot hand bath 4,5 days running sorts this out but they won't ever race how they really could off ok.
Thank you very much for that information Anthony.Anthony webster wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2024 8:07 amYou say he returned early next morning after a hot race ,Andy wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 7:01 pm Unfortunately this pigeon died yesterday. Not something I've ever thought of in pigeons but it certainly would explain why a good and consistent pigeon suddenly stops performing after just one tough race !!!
