Well being 1 of 15 children, i soon learned 1st up best dressed. this was my early start in life, and it stayed with me through my life. I never wanted to lay in bed when things needed to be done, out and about looking for a way to make, some money to help with the family budget . Education was important for me, for my later years in life. and boy did that go quick. I left school on a Friday, and started my first job on the following Monday. My life really began then, 50 % of my wages went to my mam. The rest was for my bus travel, and things i needed throughout the week.

So when it came to racing pigeons, things were just the same, Up early to get all my loft tasks done. before i went to work then i was in my daily routine, after work i did my loft tasks, then had my evening meal. I would say preparation plays a part in everyday life, no matter what you do. And you guys and girls should know this when racing pigeons, Plan ahead and if you need to adjust, make sure it is for the right reason.

Blimmy I didn't realise that there were so many of you Devo 😬 your poor Mum, bless her πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ as you can probably gather school didn't go well for me lol, life and common sense has taught me what I know, as you I left school at 16 ont he 8th of June and started work on the 9th June, apart from days off/holidays, and in the later years, a bit of time off for health reasons, I have worked for the past 42 years. Since drawing some of my pension I am able now to reduce my days down to a 4 day week and now being self employed can take more days off, which I intend of making the most of πŸ‘πŸ€
But yes mate, I completely agree with you, preparation is definitely the key, with whatever you do in life you will only get out what you put in to it. I know it sometimes seems that some people have to put in more effort than others, but I guess that's life. You have to look at your own personal goals and try not to compare it to what others might have, unless you are prepared to look both ways !! The thing is to make your goals realistic and achievable or you are in danger of leading a very depressing and sole destroying life.

1 of 7 here, left school one day started work next, although I actually started work when I was 11 in a slaughter house after school and school holidays, that was in between the 3 paper rounds I did 7 days a week before and after school in the week, even wagging school to work, hard work mind

Good to hear that most of you are still with us, it is very hard losing loved ones, but as you say, sadly its inevitable πŸ˜”

Yes, I'd forgotten the paper round !! The trouble is these days, due to all the legal ramifications and cost of Insurance most employers won't look at youngsters until they are at least 18 !!!
