Never vaccinated before for it king
Rp was my first time this year
Pha I had in mind next not pox
Watch Out Watch Out
It’s the same with paramyxovirus Albert. I only vaccinate for this because we have too otherwise I wouldn’t bother. I have had it a couple of times. Yes the lofts a mess while it goes through the birds, some get the screwy necks, but I only lost the odd ones on each occasion and never any of the better birds. I even had one with the screwy neck that flew Poitiers 343 miles with the BICC a couple of months after recovering.Albert wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 2:50 pm I have experienced it twice in thirty years, 12 years in between infections. In both instances I let it run its course, the first instance was in Y/Bs and I actively spread it through the whole loft, and lost two birds. The second time I had it in the Old birds, but only a few contracted it. I had to obviously stop racing, but once the birds have had it, they then have immunity to it, and any bird that doesn't catch it has a built in immunity. At the time I never considered it a big problem, although it is horrible to look at in your loft.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.

Outbreaks are mostly now caused by fanciers vaccinating with the live vaccine and NOT confining their birds in the loft until they stop shredding the virus.
Yes
Was the one that flew the bicc after para vaccinated before he /she caught itAndy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 4:55 pmIt’s the same with paramyxovirus Albert. She flew Poitiers as a yearling. I think she would have been vaccinated as a youngster so wouldn’t have been vaccinated again until after the old bird season as I used to vaccinate the old and young birds together just prior to the young bird season.NeilA wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 7:33 pmWas the one that flew the bicc after para vaccinated before he /she caught itAndy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 4:55 pmIt’s the same with paramyxovirus Albert.
