Just read that the great Geoff Kirkland has passed away. RIP Geoff
A lovely lovely man and a sad loss- condolencies to the family
When he was racing at Telford he was ahead of his time in National racing
His Desmet-Matthys and Alfons Bauwens were class
He used to come to our house with his MNFC entries on a Sunday night and have a cup of tea with us - always jovial and I never heard him say a bad word about anybody.
He was always free with advice as well
A real gentleman in devery sense of the word

Very sad Geoff was an absolute Gentleman as well as a legend. I remember once at his place when he was racing the Snake, he went to hand it to my wife, and she oh no I’d better not in case I let him go by mistake. Geoff leaned over and quietly said in her ear “ don’t worry he’s a homing pigeon “ I fell about laughing!! Rest in Peace Geoff.
Then, as a 2y, he won from everywhere, going on to be 1st BBC Nantes and 1st MNFC Angoulême.
Great pigeon. I wonder how many fanciers would have doubts about it with no cards won in it's first 2 years?MIL wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2024 5:22 pm pest.JPG
The Pest, on the other hand, was always beautiful. He never won a prize as a youngster, nor as a yearling until he got to Angoulême with the MNFC where he was 9th Open.
