They put us back 24 hours so will update
As proof of what we have been discussing, my mate David Cox won the Combine last weekend, but was disappointed that after the first bunch landed in front, the others came in in ones and twos.
Annoyed at that he was up at 6 the next morning and took the whole lot 70 kilometres for a toss. They beat him home. Yesterday he topped the Combine again, and didn't just win it, he slaughtered them by 100 metres per minute!
Proof positive that the flyers who put the most time and effort into the pigeons are the ones who have the most success.

Totally agree Murray
Last week Gary & Niall Gordon were 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 against 1,715 birds
I had Gary in my ear for 48 hrs after that result. He was not a happy bunny
Down to business and this week they take the first 23 places against 1,965 birds and 41 of the top 50 places

David runs a freight company so he works hard, but still puts the effort into the birds. Also he selects hard. Any stock birds that haven't produced good ones, they are replaced.
Being around him has woken my ideas up, I can assure you.

Try training like that down here and you wouldn’t have any pigeons left within a couple of weeks. One of our members who had a bit of trouble with young bird sickness a while ago has been trying to get his going. He had a few trainers but at the beginning of the week took them about 20 miles. Let them go early morning and by late afternoon only had 4 from 39. Had a few late in the day and after a few days was up to 27. Some back hawked.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.
And the funny thing is, it was me who got him back in the sport. When I was at the service station he was an everyday customer, filling up the big truck for the run. I mentioned I had pigeons and asked if he would carry them for longer training tosses.
We got talking, and long story short, he ended up building a very good loft, sourcing very good stock pigeons from very good studs and implementing a very good management system.
The results were, very good.

I think Australia is every bit as bad for Hawks as us if not worse, I think you have got to be careful, how you train, where you train, and when you train.Andy wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 9:21 pm Try training like that down here and you wouldn’t have any pigeons left within a couple of weeks.
