Anyone know how good there hearing is compared to humans / dogs /mice
Talking a bloke who had the round mice sensory things in his loft that let off a sound we can’t hear but mice can
Just wondered if pigeons hearing is a lot less than mice
Pigeon hearing
Do pigeons have good hearing?
Pigeon. Pigeons have incredible hearing and there is some scientific speculation that they use their exceptional ability to hear infrasound as part of their impressive in-built navigation system. Infrasound simply means sound waves with frequencies that fall below what humans can hear.

Sadies Lofts home of decent birds just a useless loft manager, and now a confirmed loser but proud

At a level of 60 dB SPL, their hearing range spanned 8.12 octaves (24.6 Hz–6.86 kHz). Like most birds, they do not hear sounds above 8 kHz.

For most avian species this is around 1 - 4 kHz, but some species are sensitive to lower or higher frequencies (Konishi 1970, Hienz et al. 1977). Pigeons are most sensitive to sound between 1 - 2 kHz, with an absolute upper limit of about 10 kHz

So would them mice sensor things not out pigeons off testing Buster.Buster121 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 9:22 pm Do pigeons have good hearing?

Pigeons and Moths Have the Best Hearing in the Animal Kingdom. There's a reason pigeons have long been renowned for their incredible navigational abilities: They have extraordinary hearing! Much of this ability is due to their detection of infrasound, which occurs in frequencies too low for the human ear to hear.
I did do a big post but must not have posted due to Dev posting at same time, basically was saying they have different settings on for different animal frequencies, I have one outside loft use it 24/7 cost around £14 from Lidl has 4 or 5 settings including for fox and a smaller one inside loft does not affect birds on the settings I use

I see that’s interestingBuster121 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 9:38 pm I did do a big post but must not have posted due to Dev posting at same time, basically was saying they have different settings on for different animal frequencies, I have one outside loft use it 24/7 cost around £14 from Lidl has 4 or 5 settings including for fox and a smaller one inside loft does not affect birds on the settings I use
Only I have a fox about and a lad says he used one for mice / rats
So got me thinking about my fox but worried is stops tne birds sleeping etc
I have one on the top of my loft to deter cats. It’s on all the time. The pitch is very high, above the spectrum of a bird. Same as the silent dog whistles. They are at a very high pitch that dogs can hear but we can’t. I would imagine that the rodent ones are a high pitch.NeilA wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 9:50 pmI see that’s interestingBuster121 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 9:38 pm I did do a big post but must not have posted due to Dev posting at same time, basically was saying they have different settings on for different animal frequencies, I have one outside loft use it 24/7 cost around £14 from Lidl has 4 or 5 settings including for fox and a smaller one inside loft does not affect birds on the settings I use
