I can't even be bothered to read this post anymore, after being involved in this sport for most of my 58, years it never ceases to amaze me how so many fanciers believe they have all the answers and that their way is the only way !! Yet so many do things so very differently yet still get the results they desire, of course there are some that just enjoy having the birds and the social aspect of the sport, where winning every now and then is just a bonus. In my experience you need the losers to be able to have winners, and it's often those guys who are at the bottom of sheet each week who are the grafters and the main stay of most organisations, so why can't we just respect each other and accept that we all have our own ways and very different goals !!

I've always said to any new fancier, that you will hear so many different ways of keeping and racing pigeons that it will blow your mind, just listen to as much as you can, set out your own personal goals, find the birds and the method that suits you and your lifestyle and stick to it, the main thing is to enjoy it, if it becomes a chore then you may as well pack it in.

Weather permitting, and having a good trapping system. Also some single toss training, to help them work it out themselves. Then on race days you hope they break at the Liberation site, and they are the leaders with hundreds and thousand followers behind. That is what i would like.
Agree
I must admit I don’t single toss due to time I would like to have them up in 3’s so maybe I should look at that
My trouble is no one at the home end and I fear the local cats so I do t lie to be out to long with the trap open

Fortunately Trev, in an open forum we all have the ability to read and dismiss exactly what we like - I do it all the time

Yes, there's winner and losers in all clubs - some achieve both of those things regularly, and if they're happy then so be it

My desire is for any particular fancier to be the best that they can be that's all

Phil was a fancier who carded occasionally and won a race here or there

In March 2022 I started helping him, and he's as good as gold - he does everything I ask him to

He sends me his droppings every morning and I make him accountable

Since March 2022 ( Flying in 1 club alone) he's now won 36 x 1st prizes

That's not fluke

So, my way might not be to everyone's flavour, but I know what i'm on about (certainly at 0-250 anyway) because that's where the majority of my experience and passion is

This sport is down to the individual, even in partnerships. We all have our own thoughts, of how we carry out different tasks of the sport. And i have always said there are no rights, and no wrongs in the sport. Just enjoy what you do, if you can make it better. You are going in the right direction. Most of all enjoy your quality time in life, you only have one.

Pigeons carrying a certain "lineage" and DNA have an advanced aptitude at winning.
And the champions spend their lives looking to obtain better genetics and improve their chances.
But. There is always a but.
The very best latest bloodlines can be turned into also rans by fanciers who will not put the yards into developing this year's team of youngsters.
Prove i'm wrong.

I'm sure you're right Murray

A team of good pigeons in the hands of a fancier with next to no talent and work ethic will struggle more than a dedicated fancier who has his finger on the pulse

what's wrong here then what's that about no need Mike is a wealth of knowledge and not trying to teach you to suck eggs but sounds like you don't want to know 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
Thanks Worm - appreciate that

I'm happy to help anyone that wants to be helped. But those who don't can kiss my candy ass to be honest

Every Club has its fanciers who just rock up and take a beating every week. I've no time for that mentality

Take Neil for instance. He's a very good flier

4-5 weeks ago I asked him to change the way he prepares his birds on a Friday

He said "I'd never have thought of that" - but he tried it anyway - even though he was maybe unconvinced at the start

The result now a few weeks later (after several 1st Fed's and more Club wins - and being on Natural)

Neil - Question

In 2025 will you continue to follow this new Friday approach moving forwards?
Yes I will 100 per cent
It never came into my head to do it but it works fantastic
I won 4 of the clubs 5 races I sent to
Hello NeilA, please can I ask you what changes you made under Mike's guidance on the Friday, I need to change things in my approach next year & anything that's going to help would be beneficial to me in the future.
Regards Dave.
