Darkness for old hens

Talk about anything racing pigeon related here aslong as there isnt a section for it.

Hi
Anyone know or point me in the right direction for info of how to race old hens on the dark with September as a target
I seem to remember you take them off it 3 weeks before the target race
Would you start it in March
Or has anyone just had them on a semi dark like a winters day is constantly

Tried buster
What I’m confused about it they would have had natural winter then if you darken to target race in September it seems wrong in a way but it might just be me but if you did it every year they never get summer light
Or do you then light the section after the race
I don’t really want to play with nature like that but obviously want them to race in good condition

Just a way of testing my yearling buster
Planning to race all my cocks and old hens in old bird races but due to my club limit try the yearling at a old hens race to help select for the 8 -10 that will be old bird for the next year
