Looking over this racing year, it has been a very hard year for some. Some great team birds were lost, and many youngsters. So time to get back on board and have a good think, of where it all went wrong. Time to plan ahead for the next season, what is going to give yourself and your birds the best motivation. You are in full control of your loft and birds,
In OLR we has owners do not have control of our birds. I would say the selection of youngsters. Also making sure they are fit and in good health, when they enter the OLR. We dont have a part in the feeding system, motivating of birds. Our even training of youngsters. So to me, most important is the selection of your youngsters for that type of OLR.
Good luck to all for your future planning.
A hard year for some

George i have been looking at the data of some olr this year mate. I have to say with not much training in the German classic OLR 2024. Returns have been good overall. This is from yesterdays race.
Arrivals
872/922
Had a strange year 8 good pigeons including 5 fed winners missing or injured by BOP by mid May had 2 reported dead eaten one 15 miles from home on route tje other 25 miles east of me both by bird watchers as it happened
so stopped racing before May was out as I couldn’t handle it with only keeping 20 cocks so I put 1 to stock kept 3 moved on or gave away the others including a fed winner that was badly hit
I then tried to get 10 hens going for a couple of weeks but it didn’t work at all as to late to start really did manage to win the fed with 4 cocks together before that unfortunately 2 went the next week from the same race point
Decided to miss a week took them training 30 miles first toss since April one missing and my double fed winner a hour late without half a tail
On the other hand 40 babies left from the 52 or 54 ( can’t remember) I weaned / was gifted
They must have had 45-50 trainers and 5 races 4 wins wins and 2 fed wins not one strike from BOP
So not sure what my next move is to get around the early season BOP problems
