Our 90 birds were held until midday yesterday as there were several liberations from Brighton, one of which had around 3000 birds heading North. I was hoping to get something in around 2.30, which would be 2.5hrs, as I sat in the garden waiting, with the trees bending in the wind and washing blowing on the line, I started to think it could be another tricky one.
My first bird appeared from exactly the direction I'd have wanted it to, coming off the downs from the North. She was fairly high and took a few turns around the sky before coming down, by the time she did she had been joined by my 2nd bird. Both had a brief stop on the house before coming onto the loft, but although it always feels like an eternity I don't think she lost more than a minute in reality.
The rest of my birds weren't far behind and within an hour I had 18/19 home, unfortunately the last bird is stil out. I'm confident she will be home at some point today as she hasn't missed a raced yet.
Well that's it for another season, I'll do a break down of the season another day.
Now I need to have a sort out, but that can wait until after our holiday next week.
Alan will take the first 4 in the Fed, Melvin from Shoreham will take the next 3 and I will be 8th and 9th.
Thanks all for your interest and support this year, I hope I've not bored you with my reports.
All the best

Thanks Neil, to be honest I think they've just about had enough now, although they are definitely fit enough, I think mentally they are done and much more could break them. I'm glad we had the one more race but am also pleased that it's done for another year. The birds can now rest up and finish the moult.
