just been watching heatwave of summer 76 move into 5th house from the end in September 75 in lees than 1o months there was no river Thames for a while was there 30 years and had the showracers showing in the Midlands and Wales was there for 30 years would fish every night for Barrel

Yes I remember 76, I was only 10 and remember me and my brothers playing under our Dads garden sprinkler to keep cool I also remember Swanbourne lake at Arundel almost drying up completely !!!
The year we lost Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby and our Grandpa too

I remember it well. I was 14 then. I went to Germany with the Worthing swimming club for 2 weeks in early August that year and remember the grass being brown when we came back.

I remember '76 too!
For a different reason.
These days, it would be CLIMATE CHANGE! All the polar bears are melting!
We were a bit less woke and a whole lot more aware back then.
