Looking over this racing year, it has been a very hard year for some. Some great team birds were lost, and many youngsters. So time to get back on board and have a good think, of where it all went wrong. Time to plan ahead for the next season, what is going to give yourself and your birds the best motivation. You are in full control of your loft and birds,

In OLR we has owners do not have control of our birds. I would say the selection of youngsters. Also making sure they are fit and in good health, when they enter the OLR. We dont have a part in the feeding system, motivating of birds. Our even training of youngsters. So to me, most important is the selection of your youngsters for that type of OLR.

An order for 12 x 2025 YB to be raced has gone in to Gordon Bros and been accepted

He'll also have 2 x 2025 YB coming in from an RPRA Award and Combine winning cock from Adam O'Hara

These too are going to be raced.

Wow what an order to be agreed, for the youngsters from the Gordon Bros. Also the 2 youngsters from Adam. He must be really pleased with his plans Mike., Well done Phil and all the best.

Good birds win well in the hands of good management

Good birds in the hands of a poor pigeon man who lacks attention to detail and doesn't put the effort in will struggle to achieve the desired results. That much is for certain

Yes it has been a difficult year. More on a personal note than with the pigeons. They just had to take a back seat.
I had hoped to of had my last race of the season this coming weekend. But because of the weather forecast this weekends race has been postponed until the next decent day, whenever that might be. It’s good being part of a very forward thinking club, The 3 Counties, that make decisions with the best interest of the birds at heart. It will happen at some point as it’s the longest young bird race and has big money on it with the £10 noms.
I won’t be sending now though as I’m having trouble with BOPs. I had the birds out Monday and the flew for hours being chased or doing the chasing. These were mainly my 4 youngsters and the 14 late breds, but there were a couple of old birds too. They wouldn’t come down long enough for me to get them in. Every time they landed the slightest noise and they were off again. They did eventually all come in with none missing. But since then they haven’t wanted to come out so have been kept in. I had a collard dove attacked in the garden Tuesday and a wood pigeon yesterday. She is a big bugger.
I will leave them in now for a while.

Since the weekend I have seen a sparrow hawk carry off a sparrow from the grass but was off my chair to late to save it
Then yesterday a load of fresh feathers on the grass 5 yards from where u saw the other incident , one flight looked like a pigeons white flight as it seemed to white for a dove
I have my 5 late ones still and they are the only ones going out so it’s not mine
maybe it is a dove as I hadn’t seen any strays about
