And then you woke up ?

Life in St Arnaud.
Well, some good news and some bad news in the loft.
Bad news is, the little Melbourne hen is gone. :( I had a few of them out in the bath splashing around, and she was very keen to go out. When they had a fly, she was gone.
Gordon is gone too. I think a hawk might have got the big old bloke. He was pottering around the place, he was quite happy, then he vanished. I was, and am, quite upset about that.
Good news. Roadrunner babies, obviously. :D they are penciled in for the Horsham breeder / buyer, but that could change ;)
The wee Melbourne hen left a pair of babies. Her mate has been very good and is still feeding them, and another pair has babies the same age. So I am switching them back and forth a couple of times a day. All 4 are big and strong, and starting to stand up in the bowl. All four are blue white flights, and I got confused. Had to look up which ones belonged to who?
I've got 4 pairs all going to nest again now. Some are top secret ;) and I expect they will all lay within the next two or three days.
The way it is shaping, all the youngsters from the first two, or maybe three rounds will have lofts to go to. That might be good, because I might keep a few late breds if I think they are worth keeping. :D

Speakin' about the Roadrunner babies. When they hatched, they were tiny little things, hatched out of small eggs from a small hen.
Two days later, they are all arse end and appetite! :D :D

I am being as positive as I can be about it. Gordon just arrived out of the blue, and so did the wee hen. I never owned either of them.
In fact we never own any of them.
We are only here to look after them. :D

That’s such a shame. Gordon in particular was part of the forum. You never know they may turn up. They have had a bit of an ordeal over the past year.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.

It was a beautiful day today, warm a nice breeze, sunny, so I thought I would go out and chop down some trees!

Yesterday I was up on the ladder taking all the branches off the paperbark gum at the back pf the picture, up to about 8 feet. You cant cut one down, but I pruned it
Today I dropped 2 trees, one was 30 feet high, and chopped them up. I don't think the man who made the little battery chainsaw designed it for that, but I highly recommend it!
The blue paint on the trees nearest means they are next.......

I forgot that I am supposed to be ill. I spent hours out there heaving branches around and up the ladder lopping branches.
Catherine said she knew I was alright, she could hear me breathing from out the front!

The final arrival of some proper spring weather has been a blessing.
Yesterday and today I have had the front of the loft open and it is working as it is supposed to. The air comes in under the back wall, through the vent and out the front.
