Sadies Lofts home of decent birds just a useless loft manager, and now a confirmed loser but proud

I'm not an eyesign expert. But count them. If they have TWO and are not blind the eyes are fine. The colour of your birds eyes is genetic, the colour comes from their parents. It is what it is.
I've attended many eye shows over the years and 99% of the birds that won them never actually raced, let alone win anything.

Me too. I love a rich eye with plenty of colour, but the majority of Winning racing birds wouldn't win an eyesign class.Spieker-Loft wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 4:15 pmIm not a big believer in it either. Good evening Leon. I don’t pretend to be a eyesign expert/specialist but do like looking at eyesign. I don’t use it as much as I used to as my eyes aren’t so good nowadays. I do look at the eyes for breeding purposes but wouldn’t say it tells much about racing ability.
The first thing I would say is that both the eyes have rather full irises leaning more to racing than breeding. This makes it more difficult when pairing as they are best suited going to pigeons with eyes with a lot more room in the iris.
The BE pigeon has a better breeding eye than the NL one in my opinion.
The BE pigeon has a very nice inner circle around the pupil. It is wide with lots of waves running around it and with an area of dark shading between 4 & 7 o’clock. You can see the yellow circle of colouration showing through the iris in places. The iris is a full rich red and mountainous.
With the NL eye the inner circle isn’t so clear and broken by the iris breaking into it. There is an area of dark shading between 3 & 6 which is serrated. The red iris is a bit more broken than the BE eye with the violet showing through but still quite full.
Sorry Leon but I’m not overly keen on them for breeding but that’s just my opinion. Hopefully they will prove me wrong.

Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.
I second that. If they have an eye on both sides of their heads, I'm happy.king wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 4:05 pm I'm not an eyesign expert. But count them. Greetings from the land down under.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for verily, he shall not be disappointed.

In my experience working as close as possible to a good winning gene pool is far more important than any eyesign a pigeon may haveSpieker-Loft wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 3:46 pm Is there anyone here who has some knowledge about eye signs and maybe can look at the eye of 2 birds we bought today ?
I've never met a good eyesign man that could beat me on even a remotely regular basis
