Ill give you a full answer when my father arrives home later because you are only allowed to race if you get certain vaccinations and i dont remember which one it was.
But what i can already say is that I took the vaccination system that the Vet from pipa pigeons use aswell.
We vaccinate the breeding hens with RP before they lay the eggs. Because the hen gives the Antibodies already into the egg (atleast thats what the vet from pipa claims).
After that they get another 2 RP vaccinations. after they are about 6 weeks old. and another one about 10 weeks old.

Hello Leon, can I ask you if you've vaccinated for the last 3 year can you say in your opinion that the various vaccines have kept your pigeons free from PMV, Rota, Herpes, Adeno etc, just interested in your findings over this period of time.
Regards Dave.

PVM, Herpes, Ardeno Yes we never had any of these in our loft since 20+ yearsCHARLTON34 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 1:31 pm Hello Leon, can I ask you if you've vaccinated for the last 3 year can you say in your opinion that the various vaccines have kept your pigeons free from PMV, Rota, Herpes, Adeno etc, just interested in your findings over this period of time.

Rota is a beast itself. Vaccinations definetly help prevent but its kind of like a covid vaccine where it can still break out despite of vaccinating twice and even vaccinating the breeding hen. Thats why we also use a few products in the drinker and over food to try to completely prevent it which has been working fairly well. But in some cases even that can't save them. Last year our whole combine had Rota the whole transporter was full of it and even with all our prevention we still got it aswell.

But even if it breaks out like last year. I can tell a huge difference in death's and recovery time etc compared to everyone elses loft in which it breaks out without the same prevention measures that we take.
