Spices

Talk about anything racing pigeon related here aslong as there isnt a section for it.

I use 4 spices does anyone else use spice on there food for the birds
The birds look great and compete ok just wonder if others do
I use cayenne, cinnamon, ginger. Turmeric with flax oil

I just use a little salt and pepper and a knob of butter when i cook one........

I used it for the moult once and I think it benefited them
I had actually forgotten about it but I think I will get some again. Now you mention it

I just to crush garlic into my flax oil it I stopped as I wasn’t sure with it being kept in a cupboard in the loft if it could be stored long term not chilled
Still not sure now

I am not a huge fan of flavoured oils anymore. A long time ago I used to put garlic and things in oil, but I don't know how long it lasts before losing it's effectiveness.
I do prefer freshly made crushed garlic and apple cider in water. That way i know what they are getting.
Also it's a quick test to see if your garlic is any good. If you put a crushed clove in water and it floats, it's probably a bit old and dry. If it sinks it's nice and juicy. The juice is the good bit.
