This could be useful information for Dave. I don’t whether you have heard anything yet Dave regarding the meeting at the weekend of the West Of England South Road Combine committee. The meeting was to discuss the propositions put through by the various clubs. I hear that like the propositions that our club put forward last year most have been thrown out before even being put forward to the AGM. We didn’t send any representatives this year after last years fiasco. As you know Dave our club are looking at alternatives other than the combine. I see that Stuart Wilcox has said that he is done with the combine now.
It seems that we are going to get virtually the same program as last year. Meaning for me that 11 of the 20 races will only be 34 miles and the furthest 102 miles. All this for the knockdown price of £1 per pigeon per race lol. We have a club meeting on Sunday. It will be an interesting one.

I would be very unhappy about that situation, Andy.Andy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 7:50 pm This could be useful information for Dave. That combine is pretty much saying that you can come with us and make a contribution to the costs, but we don't really care.
It's an insult really.
Greetings from the land down under.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for verily, he shall not be disappointed.

It will be very good for you when you can retire and move to somewhere where you can get some competitive racing.

That's not good Andy, even with you going back to Widowhood !! Unfortunately for most of thse fliers the fed is just training for going over the Channel.
If they get a few others like Stuart Wilcox pull out though it might make them sit up and think !!
It is similar down here though in the Southcoast Fed, most of them are just happy flying straight along the coast from the West with their longest race being being about 150 miles, some members would be happy to just to race from Blandford every week which is about 65miles !!
There must be a lot of thinning out needed every year as you should hardly lose a pigeon from those distances !!
Let's hope your club meeting goes ok and that you get a better option with the Three Counties !! As Muzza says, although I know you like the club you are in, it will be nice when you are able to move somewhere that gives you more options.
I still don't get how the "West of England South Road Combine" can call itself a combine when it doesn't consist of any Federations

So we had a meeting today to discuss the propositions for the combine AGM. As a club we voted to fly down the leg, down into the West Country. The first race would be Exeter 54 miles for me. Then Okehampton at 72 miles with Sennen Cove which is 159 miles. Much better for me than East to West. Will just have to see which way the combine vote now.
We have also put in our application to join the 3 counties. We flew with them last year but only as trainers. Their AGM is next weekend.
Our AGM won’t be for a while yet but we have already received 3 applications to join our club. That will put us up to 18 flying members. We did have one member die but he hasn’t raced for a few years now anyway.

Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.
How short would that route be for the new short flyers will they go with itAndy wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 6:44 pm So we had a meeting today to discuss the propositions for the combine AGM. 18 is a good number we have 14 but only 11 send really at times 7/8
What’s your radius
The shortest ones would be Crewkerne at about 34 miles from Exeter, so about the same as Stoney Cross to me. The difference is though that they are only looking at 1 Exeter then the shortest would be Okehampton, 72 miles for me 53 miles for the Crewkerne fanciers instead of the intended 10 Stoney Crosses.NeilA wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 6:57 pmHow short would that route be for the new short flyers will they go with itAndy wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 6:44 pm So we had a meeting today to discuss the propositions for the combine AGM. We don’t have a radius as such. Our members are spread about 10 miles South to North and 30 miles East to West. So a 300 mile square radius.

That’s only fair then that the others vote with you
That’s larger than my fed radius but we are all going the same way our south road fed is a massive radius and get more birds than us but that’s all they mention they never say it’s 5 times as big
