Snow.

Talk about anything racing pigeon related here aslong as there isnt a section for it.

Just wondering why the "weather" thread has been locked.....?
Got a carpet of snow this morning and wanted to ask if ppl still let their birds out in the snow?
I opted not to in the end as mine are only just getting familiar with their new loft so thought it might be a bit confusing for them.

Didn’t know it was mate
I use to let mine out in all weathers when I raced before but see little point in any of that now
I plan to get my hens out over Christmas so I get them flying to the old hens section but that’s the only reason just to save time when the sparrow hawk activity gets worse in February and March .

Not locked Dave the one that is , is probably the old one without looking, weather and good morning posts get locked after a while as you end up with hundreds of pages

I'm the same as Neil and Buster mate, if it wasn't for the Sparrow hawk mine would be out in any weather, the only time I would keep them in is if there were exceptionally strong winds !!

We don't get a lot of snow where I live, so I tend not to worry too much about that.... :D

I always used to have mine out all year round. I don’t now when split up but only because I have traps on different sections and they would try going into the wrong sections so easier not to let them out. They seemed to enjoy being out in the snow though. My hens have access to an aviary and spend most of the day out in it. Mine haven’t been out since mid September following losing 3 pigeons in a week to the hawk. A member at our meeting on Sunday said that he had one killed last week by the hawk at his place.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.
