I think we just all need to remember that we are all very different and are all looking for different things from this remarkable hobby of ours, some of us are in it for the pleasure and pride of winning whereas others just enjoy having the birds around, seeing them home on a race day and the social aspect of club racing. So lets just accept that and be respectful of each other, so we can all continue to enjoy this forum and the sport we all love and enjoy.
Happy Christmas to you all 🍻
I fall into the latter group, cards never meant anything to me the love of seeing them come back home and the taking part was enough for me, plus the social part
Sadies Lofts home of decent birds just a useless loft manager, and now a confirmed loser but proud :D :D

It has nothing to do with what anyone said. I dont think there were any bad intentions from anyone inside the post that we were discussing in. Of course i felt a bit misunderstood in the moment but i do still respect their opinion that they shared and there were no heart feelings involved in the discussion atleast from my side of things i still like everyone here and respect everyone. i been comming here every now and then and still read through everything.

I simply been dealing with alot in the past 1-2 months specially health wise which is the only reason why i haven't been around recently atleast not around to talk about stuff and create new topics etc.
I am pleased to see you back on the forum, Leon.
Young fanciers like you are the future of the sport, and old blokes like me can do well to listen to new ideas.
I hope your health and any other issues are on the improve.
Greetings from the land down under. :D

With words being only 7% of communication (no body language, no tone of voice, no inflection of certain words) that means the written words on their own stand a 93% chance of being misunderstood. Not good odds eh 😊

That was the problem on the old Pigeon Chat. With bad pronunciation a post could be read the total opposite to what the poster intended.

Totally understand and appreciate that Pete

However, 93% of people wouldn't mis-understand this comment

So if you too feel that way then feel free to drop me a message (I'll know who not to engage with/upset then)

Well I can only speak myself Mike and as a new member of the forum. I don’t involved myself in such things as forum politics having had something of a history of upsetting people back in the late 90’s when the internet was first getting going.

My view today is that we’re all still getting used to the whole thing so we should still cut each other a bit of slack either way.

I for one am very grateful for your input and advice. I would much rather you or anyone else tell me if I’m being daft trying the things that I do. You won’t offend me because I know that I know nothing! :D

In my job I do a training thing on written communication. I write on a flip chart “I never said he stole the money” then ask the group what I mean by the statement. I then draw a line under the word “I” and read it out making an emphasis on the word I. I then ask the question is now? Right away people rely ‘YOU never said he stole the money but someone else said it’. I do the same thing with word said - the reply is ‘you never SAID it but probably thought it’. Do the same with ‘he’ and they conclude that I think someone else stole it. And so on.

Point being, those 7 words can have at least 4 different meanings depending on where the inflection is. I don’t want to come across as all smart because I’m not - in fact I’ve never sat an exam of any kind in my whole life.

I really value everyone’s input however it’s put to me, so thanks for that and thanks for putting up with me.
