I think all you need to ask yourself is what it is that you're trying to achieve.
If its your desire to breed a team full of Grizzles then obviously your chances are increased somewhat if you only have Grizzles at Stock. If you're interested in building a good team of pigeons around you and the genes/performances impressed you then would the colour matter that much to you?
I know better than most the market desire for Grizzles, which isn't just a UK demand, but also one that's replicated globally.
Personally I'd never buy or reject a pigeon based on it's colour or its eyesign
How potent the parents and G.Parents are is all that concerned me.
I flew a very good Gaby pigeon and 95% of my team was just a basic Blue in colour.
It never mattered to me what colour it was I was timing in as long as I was early,
Good luck with the auction
But you see, I have a different outlook
What I am achieving is what I set out to.
I am breeding some nice youngsters from some nice stock pigeons.
I think my babies are as good as any.
But somehow I don't feel the need to push it.
If you don't like them, I am not very worried.

I am guilty of colour favouritism it’s wrong to be like itMIL wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 7:27 amI see those birds Leon with M.C. I think blue, light blue cheq , blue pencils stick in my head from my childhood
The east London area was dominated by the planets x with babbingtons in the early 80’s and then i worked for a guy on building sites and after with his pigeons he won two cars racing he only flew Catrysse again the same colours
Nothing nicer than 20 blue widowhood cocks looking at you each morning to me , I know it’s daft
Grizzles in my area were what a few old boys would race that no one had interest in going back 40 years
The one challenge to the blues was when I saw a loft of wildermeersh of Grinsell and Walter’s and broadhurst blood a guy had purchase had load of dark ones and was flying a team 15 cocks extremely well
They looked the nuts
Kevin Lawson said once to me if you walk in your shed and your not happy be it type or colour get rid as it will reflect in your mood whilst in the shed
But things have gone full circle and anyone looking at my pigeons would be very disappointed in the boring colours
Unfortunately I just can’t change my ways

To be honest mate. eversince i started with pigeons i just always been fascinated about other colors then blue and check. Around the time i started my dad bought a Son from Ares an absolute top racer in germany wining 2x1 against 10k ~ pigeons and was superstar candidate in dortmund 2010 and it was just a stunning bird his whole appearance specially his color. ever since then i set out to try to have the best grizzle bloodlines in my loft. dont get me wrong i still have alot of blues and checks etc aswell and if a pigeon is appealing to me i get it regardless of its color. But my main objective and goal that i set out of to try to have the best grizzle bloodlines that i can get my hands on in my loft. so far this has been working very well for me and for the 3rd year in a row out of id say a 50/50 selection of blues/checks and grizzles. 3x a grizzle was the best performer in my loft.
