Life in St Arnaud
Went to Bendigo this morning with our young birds for the Meadow race.
David took all the OLR youngsters down to Melbourne today.
When he picked up the one out of the Zillzie Baby, Devo's Zillion he went " Ooh this is a nice baby!".
Then he got the other one, Free Beer, and said "and so is this one!"
I dunno, but perhaps one or two of the other youngsters entered were not quite as nice?

Sadies Lofts home of decent birds just a useless loft manager, and now a confirmed loser but proud

I've had the first kit of youngsters out for about a week, and they are starting to pick up the game.
Yesterday it was quite breezy and after their usual couple of practice flies they took off! For three quarters of an hour they were tearing around, disappearing for 10 minutes then screaming over and off in the other direction! After a year with no pigeons to watch it is quite exciting!
I've got a few old birds that were homed in before I locked them up because I was losing so many. I've let a couple of the hens out the last few days, heart in mouth. All good.
A couple of days ago I let my old mate The Diver out with the youngsters. He's never been out but he's old (13) and very quiet. He wandered around on the ground then had a fly with the youngsters. Then vanished.
Bugger, I thought.
Last night after I had locked up I looked out and saw a pigeon on the loft.
? It was Diver
I reckon he's been to Bendigo and back. One day there and one day back. And he's clipped a wire or something, the feathers are off one side of his chest. He's pretty tired, he hadn't flown for a year and he's flown at least 150 miles. I walked up to him and he pretty much stepped into my hands
He was a good racing pigeon when he was a yearling. He had three races and won them all. He's the last of my old family.

No, I might have made a mistake there. He wanted out and I didn't think he'd go far with the youngsters.
I still make mistakes, I am just very pleased he's back and will be okay.
He's a lovely pigeon.
