I don't think there is much point in dragging things on much longer!
It's safe to say, there are many different reasons people get into this sport, be it pets, hobby or in it to win everything.
That's all in the magic of the sport it attracts all kinds of people, and as we all know there are many different ways to be successful in the sport, and there are multiple layers of measuring success also!
Both of these two fanciers involved in this disagreement, would wipe the floor with me and I have no problems admitting that, I wish to improve my results of course, can I personally afford to buy the very best in the land? No. Of course that doesn't mean I can have a go!
I'm sure I'm not the only person here, that can see the two people involved here are not going to see eye to eye on this, so I believe it's best to agree to disagree, and move on.
Both of you involved have different ideas in this game, and both of you are far better than many many people in the game.
Do one set of results diminish someone elses results? No.
They are both valid results, from people who are competing successfully in their own ways!
Both of whom would be able to improve my own results massively!
Both of you have valid ideas, and tested methods, and both of you are a great asset to this forum!
But for the love of God, please close this thread and move on!

To be honest I asked who was mocked for a reason other than the fall out between Mike and Andy

Sadies Lofts home of decent birds just a useless loft manager, and now a confirmed loser but proud

Good post there Andy, we have lost several very good members through one reason or other and the site does need to go back to the happy and harmonious site of old, sooner the better in my opinionAndy wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 5:52 pm I wasn’t going to post anymore on this topic and even thought about leaving the forum altogether.
But it’s our forum, myself and Buster are the administrators and have and are keeping the forum going for the benefit of everyone.
I have been on the forum for 10 years now. Buster, Devo and George were members long before me. It has always been a very friendly forum where help and advice has been freely given to anyone who has come on asking for it. All 3 of those mentioned, plus others that sadly are no longer with us, helped me loads when I was restarting in the sport after a 10 year break. I have met Devo and George, been to theirs and they have both been to me, Devo is 5 hours from me and George 3 hours. Unfortunately I haven’t yet met Buster in person but still consider him a very good friend. I have many other friends that I have made through this forum. Unfortunately we lost some very good fanciers when the site had to be rebooted and restated after the old software became outdated. We have lost some very good fanciers due to ill health or unfortunately deceased. After the shutting down of pigeon chat we had an influx of new members which we have welcomed and are determined to keep it as a friendly forum where members can give advice on the way they would do things however different that may be to others without being mocked by members who think they are better than anyone else. There isn’t one member on here who is more deserving of praise and respect than any other.
I have been involved with livestock of some description for the whole of my 63 years. Dad had pigeons and we had chickens, rabbits and various other pets as children. I have always loved having livestock around me which is why I left school and went into dairy farming for 30 years where I got to know all of the cows I ever had and respected them all. I preferred dairy rather than beef as I got to breed from them, rear them up and see them mature for years and generations. Following on from that for the last 20 years I have had the pet shop.
I have kept pigeons for all but a few years throughout my life and have always treated them with admiration and respect.
As far as pigeon racing is concerned it is a sport/hobby enjoyed by many. People have different aspirations of what they want and should be praised for their performances if they achieve what they want from the sport. For some it’s just having the pigeons around or seeing them return from a race. It’s always nice to see them return whether they’re the first bird or the last one home. Winning isn’t everything. There is far more to this sport than just winning. It’s the friends that are made, the camaraderie up the club, the chats at the club and on here exchanging views and experiences.
As for comments made on here, I have been told I can’t fly a kite let alone a pigeon despite the number of winners I’ve had and bred, I was accused of making excuses for not winning, something I have never done, and laughed at because I had old pigeons still in the loft. To me I love all my pigeons and having them around me. I talk to them when in the loft and they respond to me. I love just watching them exercising and returning from the races, and yes I want to win and aim to win. I think it’s disgusting and very bad for the sport for someone to be suggesting that the only way to succeed is to get rid of anything that is no longer winning or is getting a little bit old.
It is suggested that we have a fancier on here who is better than all our other members put together and we should admire him and do what he says. I don’t think there is anyone on here who anywhere near meets that criteria.
Mike doesn’t know me anymore than I know him. During my 50+ years in the sport I have never heard of him before he came on the site. I haven’t got a clue what he has achieved apart from what he’s felt he needed to put on this forum. I have met and know of many fanciers far better with far better achievements than he ever has or likely to have.
To be told that the only way to achieve success is to be buying pigeons in is typical of an auctioneer. I have met, come across many auctioneers through markets and livestock sales over the years and all bar none having only one thing in mind and that’s persuading people to part with their money. There is very little money to be made from the actual racing of pigeons. It’s only through selling pigeons directly or indirectly that makes any real money .
We have already lost one of our longest standing members through being mocked by other members on hear and others that won’t post due to thinking their get the same treatment. We won’t let this continue and want the site back to the friendly site it always was.

Yes let the site be the way members enjoyed coming on the site, I would say lock the thread.Buster121 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 8:39 pmGood post there Andy, we have lost several very good members through one reason or other and the site does need to go back to the happy and harmonious site of old, sooner the better in my opinionAndy wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 5:52 pm I wasn’t going to post anymore on this topic and even thought about leaving the forum altogether.

Just to answer your question Neil. George was mocked and left the site after many years, I am still in contact with him, but he won’t come back. Leon was mocked after a pigeon he purchased. My brother Trev was mocked and told he was a lazy arse because he didn’t have time to train and was more interested in distance racing, need I go on.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.
It’s not fair to mock people that’s a big statement to make it’s not right to do that to people if trueBuster121 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 8:37 pmWhat difference does it really make Neil, least said soonest mendedNeilA wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 7:24 pmWinfort Lofts wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 7:08 pm
