Thoughts on pop corn maize

Every day is a school day on this site.
I did google it Neil and unsurprisingly discovered that popcorn maize is just that, it is maize that has been prepared for making popcorn, so it is actually dried to 14% moisture content and then polished - Im guessing you all already knew that anyway.
I am a cabinet maker and I know that 12 -14% is the same as kiln dried hardwood.
So I can see why ppl want to soak it before feeding but I would imagine that soaking it would take much longer due to the polishing process. - Would overnight be enough, I dont know!
Now I am no nutritionist but TBH I would have to ask if there is any feed value left in it because it would be like feeding wood.
I dont think I would want it in a distance mix somehow.

Imagine soaking it each day for 20 cocks or 20 plus babies
You just wouldn’t bother to buy it would you when there is so much other choice

What’s people views on popcorn maize
Anthony Webster use to tell me he would never touch it as it was so slow to break down compared to other varieties so I have kept clear of it but it does seem popular in a lot of mixtures
Would you avoid a mixture with it in ?

It does seem like there's more mixtures with popcorn maize added now - but i'm with Anthony on this one

So in direct answer to your question I think yea, if I were still racing it'd bother me with the popcorn so I'd stay away from it

I use to go 2 gerry 1 barley all week
Then 1 gerry 1 super widowhood late in the week

Now I end the week with VL energy with Gerry as the end of week Gerry 3 energy 1

In 2005 I made the switch from V-L "Prestige" across to V-L "Gerry Plus" and "Superstar Plus"

In theory the Prestige was a much stronger mix, and I used it with success out to 381 miles (never went further than that) but ironically I'd be winning very fast very short races on Prestige too

I recall the 2003 season

Gareth Gates won Race 1 at 1952ypm from 106 miles against 5,129 birds

Donovan won Race 2 at 1766ypm from 106 miles against 5,663 birds

If I were racing now I think I'd go lighter still (assuming i'm only racing short and sharp distances)

Lighter easy to digest fats in place of proteins on a high carb base is what I think is the best way
