Bird Flu
I think what we have to remember, the bird flu vaccination is only good if it works. Looking at the flu vaccination for humans, there was so many people saying it did not work for them. And I was one of them, leading me to go into hospital. Are we paying good money for cheap vaccines?
I was speaking to a Consultant virologist at the Hospital where I work and he said that the People that decide which annual national vaccine is available to us oldies are effectively guessing which will be the most efficacious for the predicted predominant strain that will be prevalent in a given flu season, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t but his opinion is that irrespective it is better than not having it.
Yes I understand, we get it every year. This year we just felt it did not work. but the most important thing I got over it.Bowbroom wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 1:12 pm I was speaking to a Consultant virologist at the Hospital where I work and he said that the People that decide which annual national vaccine is available to us oldies are effectively guessing which will be the most efficacious for the predicted predominant strain that will be prevalent in a given flu season, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t but his opinion is that irrespective it is better than not having it.
Pleased to hear it, despite being vaccinated every year I’m sure I’ve caught the Flu in the past after being vaccinated but it manifested itself as a bad cold, I had full weight flu as a youth and literally couldn’t get out of bed. I also tested positive for Covid but again ir was like having a cold and both me and the better half tested negative in 5 days I’m convinced that being vaccinated mitigates the effects of viral infections and will continue to do so
I have to agree with you, after my illness for 10 days, I felt wiped out. But on the mend slowly but surely. Thank you for sharing.Bowbroom wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 1:59 pm Pleased to hear it, despite being vaccinated every year I’m sure I’ve caught the Flu in the past after being vaccinated but it manifested itself as a bad cold, I had full weight flu as a youth and literally couldn’t get out of bed. Same here had covid twice for sure but maybe 3 times as had all the symptoms and other family members tested positive so more than likely three times, get colds and flu but no where near as bad as used to so yes vaccinations do help, my son had covid really bad even now he still suffers, it affected his kidneys, eyes etcBowbroom wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 1:59 pm Pleased to hear it, despite being vaccinated every year I’m sure I’ve caught the Flu in the past after being vaccinated but it manifested itself as a bad cold, I had full weight flu as a youth and literally couldn’t get out of bed.
