Despite what has been assumed by some, even though I’m past 3 score and 10, I’m not against change as long as it is beneficial and manageable as do you apparently Goose.
The proposers of these changes have the absolute right under the current rules to make them but I fear that while a tremendous amount of work has gone into composing them, not enough consideration has been given to the ramifications for an ageing membership.
Still all will be determined on Friday.
That's my major concern. The effect it will have on an ageing membership. We have recent proof of how unwilling the older members of the sport have been to register for CPH numbers and other documents required for channel racing. You force them people to now use computers for things that were previously handled for them and I guarantee you will finish this sport a lot quicker than the current setup will.
As I've previously said If the changes are adopted then I really hope I'm wrong and will be the first to congratulate those responsible if in 3 or 4 years time things really are on the up.

And what a shambles the East Midlands region was, democracy wasn't carried out at that meeting. And got to say the South West meeting wasn't much better, a very poor turnout, lack of any guidance from the committee. CEO turned up at the meeting I wonder why or how many regional meetings he's turned up at around the country. For the region club's either didn't discuss this at club level at all (not interested) or couldn't be bothered to send any representation with a mandate or at least show some kind of interest .You wonder how bad things have got to get before people actually engage with this process & I've seen firsthand under the current system how bad it really is.
Well I can tell you now I was at our regional meeting on Saturday. A senior council member is on the committee and as true as I type this he said absolutely nothing on the subject of propositions. They were got to on the agenda and voted on accordingly. For what it's worth the propositions from the EM and Wales regions were unanimously voted against.
Why should he say something ? Everyone present should be mandated so no need to say anything. It shouldn't be debated at the region. It should be debated at clubs.

Our club sec went to pay the club fees to the region and they are still demanding payment by cheque.???
The club doesnt even have a current cheque book.!!!
Its not all about an ageing membership, its about efficiency through modernisation. Much easier to achieve these days. IMO its the ageing membership at that higher level that are scared of change through complete naivety.
The RPRA only published the actual propositions and they didnt publish the intentions that went with them.
This includes a 12 month transition period which would be the safeguard to a smooth change over and shows that the propositions would be sympathetic to the ageing membership.

I think I’ll respond in the manner you have employed in the past on this thread, you are fully aware of the duties carried out by region secretaries and committees which if your propositions are carried will have to be done by the CEO, the staff or the Executive Committee in the future
Just reinforces to me that you have a total lack of understanding of the proposals and how they would be implemented. Not surprising if you rely on the propaganda published by the 'RPRA" as your sole basis for evaluating the proposal. Just keep that head in the sand and hiding being that ALIAS

This rubbish about ageing membership not being able to adapt to changing technology and online services is simply that ; RUBBISH.
here are some statistics published in July 2024 relating to our elder population and their usage of the Internet.
81% of over 75's and over in the UK use the Internet
91% of people 64 to 75 in the UK use the Internet.
