Splitting the birds
I had thought that I would leave the birds together until the new year so that I could let them all out together whenever the weather was right. But now with the news that all birds must be shut in until further notice I think I will split them this coming weekend. It will mean that I won’t have to worry about throwing eggs away

the hens swill still pair up
I very rarely get that problem during the winter months. The hens are in the youngbird loft whilst the cocks are in with the nest boxes with the fronts off.

just putting 3 pairs to-gather this weekend 2 cocks on loan and cock that's not filled eggs for 2 years will take his photo before cutting off his tail

That's the most disturbing thing I have heard in a long time.

Thought it was around the vent area that was clipped George not the tail itself or is that so he can get closer to the hen without the tail pushing him backGeorge and Morgan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:00 am it's what you do about2" i may go 3"this time it may be disturbing to you i paid good money for him 9 years ago
