The birds don’t seem to care

Talk about anything racing pigeon related here aslong as there isnt a section for it.

Yesterday was a lovely sunny but cold day. The temperature didn’t get above 4c. The birds haven’t been out for a while and in this cold weather are certainly eating more. I decided to let them have a bit of exercise and let them out. I put the bath down also. They came out and had a good fly and a bath. They certainly didn’t seem to be bothered that the water was cold. After their bath most just laid out in the sun drying off for a while before going back into the loft.

I did have a thin bit of ice on 3 of my 4 drinkers this morning. Apparently fell to -7c here overnight.

Mine won’t go out again for a while now but although the sparrowhawk is around she does generally leave my birds alone. Hope that continues 🤞

I have had a huge peregrine falcon here the last two days, coming in very low and scaring the pigeons up. She must be trying to get them flying so she can pick one off. Trouble is they take off and get above her and she cant get at them. She must have a nest somewhere around here. The crows and magpies chase her away.
It's a big hawk! :o

I hope yours manage to stay safe Murray. I have seen mine fly high and at the peregrine chasing it away. A peregrine is no much to a racing pigeon on level terms. It relies on getting height above the pigeon and the speed of the dive to catch them.
