We said goodbye to 2022, had our AGM followed by our first meeting of 2023 👍
Unfortunately for an AGM it wasn't very well attended with less than half of our members turning up. Sadly due to the club staying North Road for 2023 we did have 2 members resigning and another who was resigned by default due to no payment of last years subscriptions, it was decided not to make a big song and dance about but just to cut our losses. There were a couple of proposals made that caused the usual disagreements and subsequent arguments which did get unnecessarily personal between some members, one of these was lost but the one proposal that caused the biggest argument was passed by one vote. I do hate all this politics and just wish people could put differences aside and enjoy the sport, both the racing and in particular the social side of it which is sadly dying out very quickly. Sadly this seems to happen too often once clubs start getting too big.
Anyway 2023 is officially up and running.

Lot of times folks have there own agendas and let it be there only focus which causes a knock on effect and that is why so many disputes occur folks should want one thing really and that is to race there birds, I wish you well for the upcoming season and hope you have plenty in the frame

It’s always been the same really Trev. I remember back in the old days in Worthing down at the Ball Tree some of those meetings getting pretty heated. Often between brothers Roy and Vic Oliver lol.

Not really. The nearest one is Glastonbury but that is around 50 minutes each way and I think they mark quite early. That is why at present I only have 3 races this coming season.

I have thought about that. But according to RPRA rules, rule 17, if I read it correctly, requires a minimum of 8 competing lofts to form a club. This is ridiculous given the current state of the sport and how many clubs already race with far fewer members. I couldn’t find 6 flying members within a 10 mile radius of me lol. The other problem here would be that even if we did manage to start up a club we would still have to take the birds to Glastonbury to meet the transporter.
I am considering on joining the Glastonbury club. This is a strong club with some top national flyers in it. I spoke to someone today and said that the headquarters is actually in Street which is a bit closer. About 35/40 minutes away. Marking and clocks are at a reasonable time too.

Yes could be an option. They fly with the West of England South Road Combine. I wouldn’t be interested in their channel races as I want to race North. But although the inland races are East to West it’s still a chance to get a bit more racing in.
