Life in Bendigo.

Sadies Lofts home of decent birds just a useless loft manager, and now a confirmed loser but proud

The big youngsters have had lots of tosses, are out of the moult and look like yearlings. Some beoootiful young pigeons among them.Trev wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 8:02 pmVery nice mateMurray wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 11:31 pm Old Gordon and Mrs Gordon raised another pair of babies for my mate David.
By the father of my Billion Dollar Baby, he’s mostly Heremans.
The mother is a Jansen. And the babies, both hens, have the beautiful soft, satiny plumage that you get from the Jansen.
When he came to collect them he insisted I keep one so I picked the finer one and he took the bigger one.
Next day she was out on the stock shed with her father.
She is gorgeous. What’s better than a Billion?
A trillion. That’s her name. Trillian. Like the Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy![]()

Some very nice younger ones too.
Today the pigeons were in fine form, tearing around the place. When I called them in most of them dropped in but about 8 of them would not come down. I wasn't worried for a while, then it dawned on me that something was worrying them. I looked and looked, but I couldn't see the hawk until it flew out of the tree. Invisible.
After another 15 minutes or so they nervously dropped in.
One of them was the Trillian baby.

It's a tiny wee thing, but it's flown for more than 2 hours, then proceeds to be angry and hungry.

It is like it's sister, the Billion dollar baby. It's not big, but it is scared of nothing.
It's half human.

Greetings from the land down under.

Good to hear that you are happy with your babies mate and that they all came in safely in the endMurray wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 10:53 amThe big youngsters have had lots of tosses, are out of the moult and look like yearlings. He has stood longer than I thought as I fully expected him to hand over to Kamala after about 6 months, hopefully Trump will get back in

I just watched the footage of Prince William speaking at the concert for the King,
I was very impressed.
I said to Catherine, I think the Prince of Wales is an outstanding young man, the Princess of Wales is perfect for the role and the children are beautiful. The Monarchy is in safe hands, I think.
Meanwhile, in California......

I spent the last week looking after my mate David's pigeons while he went fishing in Darwin. Look at the map. That's a long way from Bendigo. Long way.
There's crocodiles and all sorts of stuff up there
So I have been going back and forth, flying and feeding and cleaning out....
He says has 100 young birds, although I reckon it's more like 120, and they look good, fly well and trap well.
But I don't reckon they look as well, fly as well or trap as keenly as mine
He has a very good system in place, the pigeons are very well trained and cared for.
I don't have such a good system, but mine walk all over me and untie my shoe laces.
I read an article by an 'expert" once. He stated that since pigeons are birds, they do not understand being 'happy' or 'unhappy'.
My response? Bullshit.
