Update 26th May 2023 12:30pm

We have experienced three major incidents that have caused a delay to the planned schedule for the race from Carentan.

The first was an administration error on our part which was resolved relatively easily.

The second was a marking station not following the correct procedure by starting marking member’s pigeons without the registered vet being present which in turn caused over a 4 hour delay to the onward journey by the transporter.

The third problem arose at the final inspection of the consignment by the senior veterinary official. One marking station had failed to follow the correct procedure of the instructions issued to them and their paperwork was not acceptable to the veterinary official and he issued instructions that the whole consignment from that marking station had to be removed from the transporter before he would be able to sign off the remaining documentation for him to forward to the necessary officials. These instructions have now been followed.

The transporter has now been rescheduled for a later sailing today arriving in France on Saturday morning. The decision has been made to liberate on Sunday 28th.

At present the pigeons have been held in a secure compound overnight and fed and watered and will shortly be making their way to the ferry port for this evenings crossing.

A further update will follow this evening or early Saturday 27th.

I heard about that last night. Apparently all the birds that were marked at one of the marking stations had to be taken off the lorry before it was aloud to move as the paper work wasn’t in order. I don’t know whether they were aloud back on as the race has been put back until Sunday but if not the MNFC mst be on a loser from this race.

I could not be bothered with that stuff.
I spend all week having to do "compliance" at work.
At the weekend I want to put my pigeons in the race hampers, as fit and well as I can get them, and send them to the race. I don't want some pubescent half wit, who knows nothing about it, telling me I have done the paper work wrong!
Greetings from the land down under. :D

It’s all down to the requirement for vets to sign off paperwork before birds can travel over the channel. Someone hasn’t filled in the forms properly.
