I think Littlehampton had 9 members sending 118 birds, I have had a bit of clear out Les. I've got too many birds here that have done nothing so need to have a sort out. Hopefully they will get them up nice and early so we will get decent raceDarkPiedCock wrote: βFri Jun 09, 2023 8:57 amThanks Guys. The Sussex North Road sent 400 birds. The Solent Fed transporter was nearly full at 1700 birds. I sure they be up by 7.00am. Noon onwards there are thunderstorms all the way down. Good luck Trev, you mob flyer
I won't be looking on here or Facebook tomorrow as I don't want to know when others are in so I'll wish you food luck tonight my friend and speak again when the race is run

The birds haven't gone yet due to full cloud cover and a cold easterly wind, I was hoping they'd be away by 6am so they had a chance of getting home before it got too hot !!

Well I can't speak for Les and his side of the fed but that was a tough one for us with only 10 of the 119 birds sent and only 5 of the 11 members timing in

I always start the day optimistically and get out in the garden nice and early just in case I get a good one lol. Considering the heat, wind direction and the drag of the other 1300+ combine birds going to the west I started off thinking a good one could do it in 6hrs so would arrive about 3pm, then as 4pm arrived I thought that would still be reasonable and again at 5pm as this would still be 36mph which in that heat would still be a fair speed !!! Well at 5.26pm my first bird finally arrived, he looked pretty good, trapped well and went straight to his box and not the water so had not surprisingly stopped for a drink on route. I took my seat in the shade again expecting a few others to start turning up but sadly by the time I left for the club at 6.45pm he was my only one. Well as I said at the start there were only 5 of us who'd timed in and only 10 birds back so it didn't take long to do a result, we did leave the race open for a bit and went into the club for a pint just incase any late arrivals appeared but none did. This is our result and very well done to Alan who's gallant bird won it by a country mile !!! I was hopefull that once it had cooled down a few more birds would have made their way home while I was at the club but sadly only one had and so far I've got no more this morning either but hopefully some will turn during the day.

I hope I haven't posted this report too early for you Les and I hope you did better return wise than I have
All the best

A bad race then Trev. Well done to the ones that made it home. I would say that your pigeon had almost certainly stopped for a drink at some point and quite possibly more than once. I hope a lot of the missing ones return.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.
