WD Trev. Reading FB and Pigeon Chat it was a disaster for all. Even 130 mile races were missing over 50%! East wind and heat doesn't go together for pigeon racing.

I haven’t seen any of my missing ones since Sunday morning. Still 4 out. There’s a 2 year old cock who has flown 4 races this year before this one being first or second bird each time and last year was my first bird from both Wakefield and Hexham scoring in the result each time. The other 3 are yearlings that have been coming well.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.
It certainly was a testing weekend, I've had messages from some of our club members who still have a fair few missingDarkPiedCock wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 9:47 am WD Trev. When you see how many storms there were around the country over the weekend it's no wonder birds are missing, there were over 9000 strikes just on Sunday !!
Hopefully some of these missing birds will make there way back home yet.

Well done Trev a good result all round.

As you know we went as a combine with the Solent Fed who also convoyed the Dorset and Wiltshire Feds, I think there were about 1700 birds sent in total. I can't find any results for the Dorset or Wiltshire Feds but the winner of the Solent Fed was doing 1406ypm (which as expected is 126ypm faster than our winner) well done to L Patterson of Portsmouth who had two together taking 1st and 2nd, the 40th bird in their result was only doing 1046ypm so it looks like despite the speed the early birds were doing they had as difficult a day as we did !! Well done to everyone who got birds home !!
I was reading Ad Schaerlaeckens' blog and it was very tough on the Continent last weekend too. Many birds struggled to get home.

I read that the HaFo (middle distance) for the young birds was to start this weekend in Belgium. Wisely they have put it back two weeks because of the heat.
This is what the controlling bodies must do. Use their heads and make sensible decisions for the welfare of the pigeons. Not wild decisions at the last moment, but looking at the bigger picture.
That's my opinion anyway.
